NELLY, USHER ATTEND JERMAINE DUPRI OPENING
USHER & TAMEKA TO HAVE OFFICIAL WEDDING
Though one can never be sure with these two, Usmagazine has learned that Usher Raymond and pregnant wife Tameka Foster are planning an official wedding ceremony this weekend in Atlanta.
The rumored event will be more in line with the couple's original plans for a ceremony and celeb-filled celebration. That gathering at the Hamptons home of record exec L.A. Reid was canceled at the last minute on July 28 in favor of a small private gathering days later on August 3. Guests are rumored to include Jermaine Dupri, Janet Jackson, Ashanti, and Diddy.
We hear that Raymond, 28, and Foster, 36, are holding the party in Atlanta so friends and family will be able to attend easily.

I guess money doesn't solve everything.

RUSSELL CHILLS WITH HIS NEW WOMAN?
TONI BRAXTON WITH BREAST CANCER?
Singer Toni Braxton is battling breast cancer, according to the National Enquirer (so take this with a grain of salt).
The mom-of-two allegedly received the diagnosis two months ago, but chose to keep her cancer fight to herself after doctors insisted she'd caught the disease early enough to beat it.
Doctors reportedly have been pumping an iron infusion into her twice a week to combat the fatigue caused by her chemotherapy.
A family source told the publication, "Toni is a fighter. She initially thought the worst, but doctors assured her the prognosis for her breast cancer is excellent. She still has moments when she gets upset and she may cry a little bit - but those moments don't last long."
Is this true....I can't say, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

AMY WINEHOUSE IN BRAWL
Amy Winehouse and her hubby Blake were apparently involved in a brawl this week. The singer got into a tussle with hubby Blake early Thursday morning.
In a series of text messages, Amy told gossip vixen Perez Hilton the whole thing was her fault, saying, "Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other ... I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life."
Amy and Blake were photographed on the streets of London, looking like they'd had a run-in with a Bengal tiger, but turns out it was just a strung-out, 100-pound soul singer on a rampage -- equally as dangerous. Winehouse has checked in and out of rehab several times in the past few months and has canceled her North American tour. Amy went on to tell Perez that she has no plans on going back to rehab, but rather she just needs "a holiday." Sounds like a fine idea.

DIRECTOR JOHN SINGLETON INVOLVED IN FATAL ACCIDENT
Director John Singleton accidentally struck a woman with his SUV who was jaywalking on a South Los Angeles street Thursday evening, according to police.
The woman, Constance Russell, 57, of L.A., was taken to a local hospital but died later Friday morning. "Mr. Singleton stopped immediately and later identified himself to police," says Los Angeles police spokesman Jason Lee. "He was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was cooperative, and was questioned and released." "This is being treated as an unfortunate accident," Officer Lee added. "There will be no criminal charges." Singleton, 39, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Director in 1991 for his acclaimed film, Boyz N the Hood.
Wow...these are always unfortunate situations - for the victim's family of course and for the person who caused the accident. Gosh, I can't imagine having that on my mind.

JUANITA BYNUM RECOVERING AFTER SPOUSE ATTACK
Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III, 54, the estranged husband of world-renowned evangelist Juanita Bynum, surrendered to Atlanta police Friday on charges that he attacked his wife.
Weeks reportedly made no comments when he arrived at the jail with a lawyer on Friday morning. A hearing was reportedly scheduled this morning at the Fulton County Jail, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Early Wednesday morning, Bynum was allegedly assaulted by Weeks in an Atlanta parking lot, according to police. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the estranged couple met at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel to discuss a possible reconciliation, but the the talks turned violent when Weeks allegedly attacked Bynum. Officer Ronald Campbell of the Atlanta Police Department told reporters Weeks left leaving bruising "around her neck and upper torso.” A hotel bellman who witnessed the alleged assault in the parking lot physically pulled Weeks away from his wife. It is reported that Weeks left the scene of the attack, according to police. Warrants had been issued for Weeks, who has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of terrorist threats against Bynum.
According to a lawyer for Weeks, the Bishop plans to continue his ministry and to try to reconcile with his wife after the allegations are dealt with, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "He is extremely sad over the events that have taken place," said Edward Garland, one of the two attorneys representing Weeks. "I think there is hope on his part that the relationship can get past these difficult moments."
Bynum, who is said to be with family members, released this statement on Thursday:“I am currently recovering from all of my injuries and resting well. There are so many great things happening for me in my future and so much to look foward to concerning my destiny. This too shall pass. The Bible says in Proverbs 4:25: 'Let your eyes look right on with fixed purpose and let your gaze be straight before you.' Thank you for your concern and please continue to pray for my recovery!"Bynum, 48, a Pentecostal evangelist, is well-known for her inspiring messages and music aimed at empowering women.
Weeks and Bynum were married in a televised "million-dollar" celebration back in 2003. One thousand guests were in attendance for the luxe affair, which included an 80-member wedding party, a 12-piece orchestra and a 7.76-carat diamond ring. When asked about her all-out nuptials, Bynum commented in Ebony magazine, "This was my once-in-a-lifetime wedding, and I did it this way because I plan to stay married."

MINORITY REPORT: NICOLE RICHIE OUT OF JAIL
In one minute, out the next: Nicole Richie checked herself into the Century Regional Facility in Lynwood, California, on Thursday (August 23) to start serving her DUI sentence — only to find herself checking out less than an hour and a half later due to overcrowding. Richie had been sentenced to serve four days in jail.
"At this time, the criteria for a female arrestee sentenced to 30 days or less for a nonviolent offense is as follows: the arrestee is booked, screened and usually released within 12 hours," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a press release.
"This procedure is based on jail overcrowding to manage population levels mandated by federal court guidelines. Based on the mandated guidelines and Ms. Richie's 96 hours sentence, she will be treated in the same manner as other inmates with a similar sentence." The jail is the same one where Paris Hilton served a portion of her DUI sentence.

WITH VIVICA'S FRIENDS WHO NEEDS ENEMIES
According to the NY Daily News, Vivica Fox 's glam New York birthday party Tuesday night turned into a thorny mess.
Guests including Shaquille O'Neal, Brooke Hogan and Swizz Beatz were enjoying the festivities at Sol nightclub for her belated 43rd.
But the first bump in the evening came when a promised Rolls-Royce Phantom failed to appear at Mr. Chow to take Fox to the party. Her dinner companion, Star Jones, dropped her off instead.
Then there was a red carpet kerfuffle when Bronx rapper Remy Ma arrived uninvited.
"Remy and her management were asked not to attend by the club in advance, due to her pending court case for attempted murder," says an organizer. But like any good diva, she continued to strut on the red carpet until "she was turned away at the door by a wall of security."
The next day, a check for Fox's $2,500 appearance fee was rejected by her bank because it was drawn on a closed account.
When contacted by the Daily News, celebrity stylist Messiah McNair admitted he bounced the check, and promised to replace the money. But a little later he called back, clearly irked at Fox that the information had got out.
"You can say she was drinking," McNair claimed. Earlier this month, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge barred Fox from consuming alcohol, pending her upcoming arraignment on a March DUI.
"I poured red wine for her into a can of Red Bull so she could drink," McNair claimed. "She asked me to do that."
