Kimora Lee Simmons and boo Djimon Hounsou have welcomed their first child together.



"Kimora and Djimon are the proud parents of a new baby boy," her rep said in a statement. "Both mother and child are doing great."

Simmons, 34, also took to her Twitter page to confirm the news. She wrote, "It's a boy! Thanks to everyone out there for all your well wishes! More to come. Thank God. And God Bless! Kimora + Djimon Love & Light, KLS"

No baby name was announced.

RIHANNA GETS NEW DIGGS

Despite her court dramas, Rihanna has reason to smile. She's settling in SoHo for the summer. She is said to be close to inking a deal on a three-bedroom apartment on Greene Street. The listing has it at $22,000 a month but Rihanna is said to only be spending $18,000. Most scurry away from the city once summer hits but Rihanna is currently taking acting classes to prepare for her first movie.

RIHANNA TO TESTIFY

So we hear that Rihanna could possibly testify against Chris Breezy....

Following a hearing in Los Angeles Thursday, Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, said prosecutors intend to subpoena the singer to appear at a June 22 hearing, so the court can determine if there's enough evidence to proceed with a trial.

"The DA has advised me that she will be subpoenaed [to testify]," Etra said. "She absolutely will comply." He added that Rihanna, 21, would be subject to cross-examination by Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos.

Meanwhile, Geragos was unsuccessful Thursday in convincing a judge to grant him access to police records in effort to find out who leaked a photo of Rihanna's injuries. Asked if he's confident that he can keep Brown from serving time behind bars, Geragos replied after the hearing, "I'm not going to address any of that."

In denying Geragos's request, L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said that while she agreed the leaked photo was unfortunate, she argued it had nothing to do Brown's arrest and wouldn't significantly impact his right to a fair trial.

"It matters to me not if your client is high-profile or not," the judge said. "I don't believe you're entitled [to demand access to police records]."

Chris, 20, has pleaded not guilty to allegedly beating Rihanna on Feb. 8. If convicted, he faces anywhere from probation to a maximum four years and eight months in state prison.

Experts say the case likely won't go to trial, but instead will end with a plea deal, which could happen at any time.

CHRIS BROWN SUED

On the day Chris Brown took to YouTube to say he's "not a monster," a photographer sued him, saying Brown's bodyguards beat him as he tried to take pictures at a gym.

Robert Rosen sued Brown and LA Fitness International, claiming he was assaulted by a bodyguard after snapping pictures in a gym in Universal City. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for multiple claims, including assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

The suit states Rosen snapped photos of Brown and friends on the basketball court at the LA Fitness on May 13.

Rosen's lawsuit states he fell down a flight of stairs after being chased by Brown's bodyguards, who assaulted him.

It does not allege violence by Brown.

Rosen also claims he was blocked from leaving the gym by a gym employee. A phone recording at LA Fitness' headquarters said the company was closed on Wednesday evening and did not allow a message to be left.

"This is a specious and frivolous lawsuit by one of the paparazzi seeking publicity and a payday," Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, said in a statement. "He's done this before and lost. We will vigorously defend against this."

The filing does not state Rosen's employer, but a paparazzo with the same name filed a similar lawsuit against Pierce Brosnan in 2007. That suit was later dismissed.

After buying himself out of his Def Jam contract for a cool $5M, the NY Daily News reports that Hov may be cutting a deal with Warner Music Group/Atlantic that could make him one of the richest and most powerful men in music:

A well-placed industry source tells us that Jay - who recently left Def Jam as a recording artist (he served as its president from 2004-2007) - has been taking top-secret meetings with his old pals and former managers Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles. Topics of the hush-hush conversations have included giving Jay his own record label at WMG, tentatively to be called the Carter Music Group.

"Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends," says our insider. "He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now - and very privately - is something finally starting to happen."

Our source adds, "This is big in hip hop. These are three of the most powerful men in music, who might be working together, and there's no question the success they'll have as a team will be huge."

WMG Vice President Cohen and Executive Vice President Liles also attempted to convince Jay to bring his Roc Nation label - which is part of the reported $150 million deal he cut with Live Nation - to WMG. Jay, however, has chosen to release his much-anticipated 15th album, "The Blueprint 3," with Live Nation in the fall.

"Jay's deal with Live Nation is massive," says another music-biz insider. "But if he were to cut a deal with WMG/Atlantic, he'd make even more headlines. Jay-Z, Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles are all brand names. They're the industry's heavy hitters, and the combination would bring them a lot of attention. They would be unstoppable. Jay himself is the most successful rapper-turned-businessman out there."

IS T.I. MARRIED?

So we hear that T.I. and Tiny may have finally tied that knot. The UrbanDaily reports:

“It’s been a crazy situation around here with all that has been taking place. In regards to Tiny and T.I., yes they are officially husband and wife,” said the source who wished to remain anonymous because they were not at liberty to officially discuss the issue. “It recently took place in a very private ceremony with only members of the immediate family and certain members of the Grand Hustle family.”

According to the source, the couple married last Friday on an island right outside of Miami on what was publicly touted as a family trip to the southern city.

MIKE TYSON'S DAUGHTER PASSES

Here's some really tragic news...


Boxing champ Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter Exodus died Tuesday in a Phoenix hospital after accidentally getting her neck wrapped in a cord from an exercise machine at home.

"We are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and prayers from all over the world," Tyson says in a statment. "There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus. We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal."

Exodus's mother, whose name has not been released, was cleaning in another part of the house when she sent her 7-year-old son to the playroom to check on his sister. The boy found Exodus tangled in a cord dangling from a treadmill. He called for his mother, who dialed 911 and administered CPR.

The child, who had been on life support, was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, says Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Hill.

Tyson, who had been in Las Vegas at the time of the accident, returned to Arizona and was seen entering the hospital in the morning.

KANYE READIES FOR NEW BOOK

Looks like Kanye is moving full force ahead with his new book "Thank You and You're Welcome." He teamed with marketer/philosopher J. Sakiya Sandifer to pen the book.



"He inspired the format of the book, because he wrote a book called 'Think, Think, Think and Think Again,' " West said about Sandifer. "[He did] bullet points in bold graphics, and he expounded upon them ... whereas books hide the main points chapters in. You have to read so much to get so much out of it. We wanted to make it simple for people who are non-readers, who don't feel like doing all that, and still get the point across."

One of Kanye's favorite philosophies in the book is "Get used to getting used."

"To use someone is necessary. What's negative is to misuse, overuse or abuse somebody," West said. "To use is necessary. If you can't get used, then you're useless."

"That really came from my entrepreneurial journey," Sandifer said. "I would complain when my phone wasn't ringing. 'No, I want to be used.' Being the resident philosopher, I put it in that context."

West and Sandifer call working together a "great collaboration." They've also collaborated on some of 'Ye's acceptance speeches and a line from "The Good Life"

" 'Having money's not everything; not having it is,' " Sandifer repeated of the line he came up with. "That's where the real problem is — when you don't have it."

Gabrielle Union is unleashing hell on Bossip. They that printed an anonymous letter about her revealing some rather vixen-type ways.



Gabrielle's lawyers have fired off an ultimatum to the site, demanding they remove the letter, print a retraction and send an apology letter to Gabrielle... or else.

The site claims they received "the letter" from a "nameless pro-athlete's wife" -- and decided to print it because "it seemed too real."

But Gabrielle claims the allegations in the letter -- mostly involving sexual exploits -- are 100% BS ... and the site should have been more responsible with their judgment before deciding to print.

JAY-Z A FREE MAN

Jay-Z has officially parted ways with his home for more than a decade, Def Jam. On Thursday morning - Hov who owed Def Jam one last album — bought himself out of his contract for $5 million.

On Thursday afternoon, Jay contacted RapRadar.com and confirmed his departure.

"I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and L.A. Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience, and I respect them immensely," Hov told the Web site. "I've been in the family for almost my entire career. Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever."

Jay said that negotiation included a coin toss. "Doug won the toss, but we both won in the end," Jay said. "I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music."

In February, Jay joked that he was too free in making his latest opus.

"If I don't have any time constraints, I'll mess around, I'll never get it done," he said. "I'll be Axl Rose out here! It'll be 12 years later, and we'll be talking about Chinese Democracy. I really like the [time constraints]. But whatever happens, [the album] may turn out better, 'cause it'll be done when it's right."

DRAKE DENIES RIHANNA ROMANCE

Looks like that PR machine is back in motion....after a tongue and cheek article hit the NY Post, it's clean up time. MTV reports:

The fast-rising rapper/singer called in to New York's Hot 97 Thursday morning (May 21) and denied gossip that he and Rihanna are an "item."

On Wednesday, the New York Post published an item in its gossip column claiming that Drake and Rihanna were spied kissing all night on Monday at New York's Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge bowling alley. One of the paper's spies was quoted as saying, "She was drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with him all night. ... They were really cute together."

Drake downplayed the rumor mill on Thursday morning, while also promoting his Hot 97 concert next Tuesday.

"It's not like that at all," Drake told show hosts Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg. "I'm being honest. [She's] just a friend, that's all. A great artist."

Drake did admit he was at the same place as Rihanna, but reiterated nothing was going on between them. "Nothing at all. I have the most respect for her. I think she's so talented."

Drake said he was also "honored" that Page Six would choose his name to put in a romantic Rihanna rumor.

NATALIE COLE RECOVERING

Natalie Cole underwent kidney transplant surgery in L.A. on Tuesday and is now "resting comfortably."

Cole, 59, has struggled with kidney problems while undergoing treatment for hepatitis C, which she was diagnosed with a year ago. "The kidney came from a deceased organ donor through the regional organ procurement agency, One Legacy," her rep said in a statement.

In February, Cole was hopeful that her son Robert might be a possible donor match. Cole, who has undergone kidney dialysis three times a week since September, is expected to spend the next three to four months recuperating.

Cole contracted the degenerative liver disease from sharing dirty needles via a drug addiction in that occurred in the 80s.

After quietly continuing to see Brown after the alleged altercation between them in February, Rihanna stepped out with a new guy on Monday night in N.Y.C.

Rihanna, 21, stopped by Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge with 10 pals for some bowling, drinks and plenty of PDA with Canadian hip-hop artist Aubrey "Drake" Graham, says a source, adding that the singer, who was "absolutely glowing," sipped whiskey and apple juice while staying close to Graham. "The two of them were stealing kisses here and there the whole night," says the source.

The singer's group danced until midnight, when the new pair left together. "They were very cute. Both of them were in really good spirits [and] she was having a great time," adds the source.

Graham, who is also an actor, is best known for playing wheelchair-bound Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Also known as "Drake" in the hip-hop world, the Toronto native is a protégé of rapper Lil Wayne.

Rihanna is back from Hawaii. She was spotted Sunday as she was reportedly headed to a music studio with Justin Timberlake.

KANYE PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Kanye West pleaded not guilty Friday in a Los Angeles court to misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft stemming from a scuffle with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport on Sept. 11.

West, 31, was not present in court, but his lawyer, Blair Berk, appeared on his behalf.

West's road manager, Don Crawley, 33, who was charged with two counts of each of the above crimes, also pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley.

Eight months ago, the two were arrested for the altercation while attempting to catch a flight to Honolulu. Video of the incident showed both men wrestling a camera away from a photographer, with each smashing parts of it into the ground.

Crawley also allegedly smashed a second photographer's camera.

West and Crawley's next hearing is scheduled for July 15.

DOLLA MURDERED

Dolla, an Atlanta-based rapper was fatally shot in the valet waiting area of the Beverly Center mall Monday by a suspect who fled in a silver Mercedes SUV, according to police.

Officers later detained a "person of interest" as he approached the ticketing area at Los Angeles International Airport armed with a gun. The shooting occurred about 3:10 p.m. in the parking garage of the popular Westside mall, sending diners in nearby restaurants diving for cover.

Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot in the head as he and several other people stood near the center's La Cienega Boulevard entrance, according to police, witnesses and Dolla's publicist, Sue Vannasing. A friend of the rapper's who was at the Beverly Center and a Los Angeles Police Department official also confirmed the victim's identity to The Times.

Dolla, 21, arrived at LAX from Atlanta earlier in the day and went to the Beverly Center to shop, Vannasing said. After the shooting,he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center a few blocks from the mall, where he died, police said. The LAPD has not announced a motive for the attack or identified any suspects. Detectives are questioning a woman they detained at the scene and a man who allegedly drove from the mall to LAX in a rented silver Mercedes SUV.

About an hour after the shooting, the LAPD issued a bulletin for a 20-year-old man considered a "person of interest" in the shooting. Los Angeles Airport Police officers spotted a man fitting the description in the ticketing lobby of Terminal 1.

"The suspect was detained without incident [and] discovered to be armed," said Los Angeles World Airports spokeswoman Nancy Castles. Police later found the Mercedes in an airport parking lot.

LAPD officials, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because of the continuing inquiry, said they are investigating whether the man was trying to get a flight out of L.A. Dolla was in town to work on his first album, slated to be released this summer on Jive Records, Vannasing said.

His first single, released in 2007, was "Who the . . . Is That?" The LAPD has not released a narrative of what happened in the mall garage.But Vannasing said Burton apparently had a dispute with some people, perhaps at the airport."

They followed him to the mall because they knew he was coming," Vannasing said. She added that Dolla was at the mall with another rapper, D.J. Shabbazz.

Police officials said they could not confirm or deny that account.

I remember walking into Russell’s office years ago to the sight of a camera crew filming him. I listened as he spoke passionately to 20+ high school students all seated on the floor. He was speaking about the rally to repeal the Rockefeller Drug Laws.

I thought the cameras were just another news crew doing another story profile piece, but for weeks afterward, I kept seeing the same crew around the office. I soon learned that they were making a documentary about these laws.

Next, I remember how happy Russell was when Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Fat Joe, The Beastie Boys, Andrew Cuomo, then State Senator David Paterson, then Senator Hillary Clinton and so many others from the hip-hop community came out to advocate for an end to these laws.

Finally, I remember the day he came home with a big smile on his face and a pen in his hand. I didn’t understand why he was so happy to be holding this pen until I learned that our then-Governor had signed legislation slightly rolling back the Rockefeller Drug Laws and had given him the pen he used.

It, of course, wasn’t the pen that was so important to Russell. As I’ve recently reminded him, the pen is lost somewhere in our daughter Ming Lee’s room.

Most important was the impact he’d had in a movement that was supporting families and re-building our communities. So, I was pleased a few weeks ago when Russell was given another pen-this time from Governor David Paterson, who courageously ended 36 years of biased and shortsighted drug legislation.

As a person of color, a mother of two daughters and one child on the way, a businesswoman and a concerned citizen, I believe that we need a shift in mindset. Drug abuse should be treated as the health care issue it is.

In the near future, Russell will engage public figures and public citizens alike in his fight to repeal similar laws across the US. As someone who committed herself to this cause years ago, I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve never posted or blogged on this site until now.

But now is the time speak up and speak out.

Because now is the time to end the War on Drugs.

MARIAH & NICK HIT UP CANNES

Mimi and Nick made their rounds at the Cannes film festival this weekend for her new Oprah/ Tyler film Precious.

Saturday night the two hosted a premiere party at Nikki Beach, where cocktails were served at 8 p.m. and dinner followed at 9.

In true diva style, Mimi didn't arrive until 11:30. But looks like she tried to make-up for be being especially cordial. According to one guest, Mimi was working the crowd "shaking everyone's hands, having kisses, saying 'thank you' for everything."

T.I. TO HEAD TO ARKANSAS

The details of T.I.'s sentence were released this weekend. Looks like his good deeds aren't being ignored.

T.I. will report to an Arkansas federal prison on May 26 to begin his one-year-and-one-day jail sentence for felony weapons charges.

According to The Associated Press, paperwork filed in court shows that the rapper has until noon that day to report to the Forrest City low-security federal prison. T.I.’s lawyers had attempted to place their client in a location closer to his Atlanta home, to no avail.

In May, T.I. was sentenced to prison by a judge after his plea deal was accepted. As part of the plea, T.I. had to complete 1,000 hours of community service before sentencing, pay a $100,000 fine and agree to complete another 500 hours of community service after his time behind bars.

His sentence is the result of his October 2007 arrest for illegally attempting to purchase firearms. T.I. is a convicted felon and it is not permissible by law for him to own any guns.

Hip-hop maestro Swizz Beatz is finally admitting that he and Alicia Keys are an item — but he wishes his estranged wife, Mashonda, would leave the Grammy winner out of their divorce.

"But we're nowhere near ready for a baby or a ring," laughs Swizz, aka Kasseem Dean. "This whole song is not about Alicia. The part about her cooking breakfast for me naked — she never done that for me." Damn.

Swizz didn't want to talk about Keys till now because, he says, "What we have is so precious." He also felt it would aggravate Mashonda, who's also a singer.

He may have been right. "When he told Mashonda he was dating Alicia, I think she got jealous," says a friend of the couple.

Having filed for divorce in February, Mashonda is seeking interim support for their 2-year-old son, Kasseem Jr., arguing that Swizz has slashed his payments.

"He's been tightening the screws on her," says a friend of Moshanda. "It's becoming intolerable. Meanwhile, she's seen the charges for jewelry he's bought Alicia in France."

During the winter, the heat in Mashonda's Westchester mansion went out. "Swizz wouldn't repair her heat," says her friend. But a pal of Swizz argues, "The house is 30,000 square feet. The heat didn't work in one wing, not where Mashonda and Dean slept. Swizz had been paying all of their bills. On top of that, he was giving her $5,000 a week. His advisers felt that was too much, so now he pays her $3,500 a month, on top of the bills.

"Swizz has put settlement offers on the table, but Mashonda won't say what she needs. She just came back from Paris and London. She drives a Bentley Flying Spur and a Cadillac Escalade. I don't think life's too bad for her."
Mashonda's friend argues that she's resisted his offers "because he's been less than forthcoming about his true financial picture."

Swizz's lawyer, Dan Rottenstreich, insists, "He has taken care of her and his son above and beyond what's required."

Says Mashonda's attorney Bernard Clair: "An application is pending before the court, where the facts will be developed."

Precious is based on the book Push by Sapphire and tells the story of a young girl growing up amid terrible domestic abuse in Harlem. It will be released to the public on Nov. 6.

Carey was chosen for the part at the last minute. "I thought how bold would it be to cast Mariah," says director Lee Daniels. "If she could dye her hair, put on a wig, take off the makeup, darken under the eyes, I believed she would begin to give me her soul. And she did."

Look who's back together....Pink and ex-husband Carey Hart.


Pink came clean and told Ellen DeGeneres - on an episode airing Friday - that she and her ex are a couple again.

Pink and Hart got married in Costa Rica in January 2006 and announced their split two years later, but, "We didn't do the paperwork deal," says Pink.

Asked if she and the motocross racer would consider having another wedding ceremony, Pink coyly answered, "I love a party."
