PROOF MURDERER SENTENCED

On Thursday (October 26), a Wayne County Circuit judge sentenced Mario Etheridge - the bouncer who shot and killed rapper Proof - to time served and a $2,000 fine on weapons charges.

Etheridge, 28, of Detroit was convicted in a jury trial last month of carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm in a dwelling or occupied structure. He was given time served - he spent a few days in jail awaiting bond - for having two unlicensed pistols and fined $2,000 for shooting the guns in a building.

Etheridge shot Proof, 32, whose birth name was Deshaun Holton, after the rapper shot and fatally wounded Etheridge's cousin, Keith Bender Jr., 35, of Detroit on April 11 at the C.C.C. Club on 8 Mile.

Shortly before Judge Vera Massey Jones sentenced him, Etheridge wept as he expressed remorse.
