WEEZY SUED

Weezy has been hit w/ a lawsuit.

The music company that owns the rights to the Rolling Stones' "Play With Fire" is suing the rapper for allegedly stealing parts of the '60s classic - and turning it "sexist."

Abkco Music Inc. said it didn't know about the altered version until a scathing review appeared in The Chicago Sun-Times, which called it a "reinvention" of the Stones' song.

"The similarity is apparent even to a layperson's ear," said a music expert, according to the lawsuit, filed yesterday in Manhattan federal court. Abkco sites the fillowing lyrics as evidence: “But don't play with me/ 'cause you're playing with fire," is obviously changed by the rapper to "But you can't blame me/ if I set this stage on fire."

The suit accuses Lil Wayne, his songwriters and his company, a unit of Universal Music Group, of copyright infringement and unfair competition.
GV Says: Had this album tanked you know there would be no lawsuit.

That's exactly what I was thinking as soon as I read the story headline.
