USHER'S MOM STEPS DOWN FROM MANAGER ROLE

Usher's mom steps down from being momager...

Usher's mother has been his manager since he was a teen, but now the superstar says he wants her to be just "mom."

The Grammy winner confirmed Monday that Jonnetta Patton is no longer in charge of his career, but denied the break was due to any rift.
"She and I are on great terms and support each other in our life's endeavors. We are both very happy but are now working in different areas of the business," he said in a statement to The Associated Press. "This is great for me because it means I now get to have my mother strictly as my mother with no added pressure."

Usher said he believed that by ending his professional relationship with his mother, it would bring them closer.

"At this time in my life, I am simply more interested in building the strength of my family. And in order to do that, I feel it's best to separate my business life from my personal life," he said.

This is the second major change this year for Usher, 28. In March, he announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, stylist Tameka Foster.

Rumors have swirled that Foster would replace Patton as Usher's manager, but the singer said: "She has no aspirations of becoming my manager or any other artist's manager."

MAIA ON THE RUN

The Philadelphia Daily News has reported that Maia Campbell, daughter of late author Bebe Moore Campbell, has recently been accused of stealing a vehicle. Mount Airy's Kevin Taylor filed a police report last Monday accusing Campbell of stealing his Jeep in Germantown.

According to Taylor and his friend Steve Johnson, the pair left Campbell and the car keys alone in the white 1998 Jeep Cherokee registered to Taylor's father, Christ Taylor, as they went into Johnson's home to retrieve musical gear. When they came outside minutes later, Campbell and the car were gone, they said.

Bebe Moore Campbell died of brain cancer in November, one day after her daughter's 30th birthday. Since her death, Maia has been rumored to be addicted to drugs.

Campbell, who co-starred with LL Cool J on the series "In the House,".has in recent years appeared in videos for Tyrese, Fat Joe and Lil' Kim.

MINORITY REPORT: PARIS SENTENCED

Paris Hilton's "simple life" has just gotten complicated. On Friday (May 4), a judge sentenced the hotel heiress to 45 days in Los Angeles County jail for violating the terms of her probation.

Hilton must report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Lynwood on June 5 or face a 90-day sentence. She will not be allowed work release, leaves of absence or an electronic-monitoring device instead of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing.

The 36-month probation stint stems from Hilton's arrest in September for alcohol-related reckless driving. Paris’ attorney Howard Weitzman said he would appeal the ruling. "I think she's singled out because of who she is," he said. Weitzman said the sentence was "uncalled for, inappropriate and bordered on the ludicrous."

On January 15, California Highway Patrol pulled over Hilton, who was driving on a suspended license. At that time, she signed a court document acknowledging that she was not permitted to drive. Hilton was again pulled over on February 27 when authorities saw her car speeding with its headlights turned off, and she was charged with violating her probation.

R. KELLY'S DUMB WIFE SPEAKS OUT

After nearly five years since R. Kelly was charged with several criminal counts of child pornography, his wife, Andrea Lee Kelly, finally speaks in the latest issue of Essence magazine.

In the interview, she talks about how few people seem to realize R. Kelly even has a wife, let alone one with whom he's had three children — two girls, ages 9 and 7, and a 5-year-old boy. Andrea was pregnant with their son when the news broke of the alleged R. Kelly sex tape, for which he is currently awaiting trial.

Part of the reason she stayed silent then, she says now, is that she was trying to protect their children — being "a lioness" for her cubs. "They may say, 'Mom and Dad went through a storm,' " she said. "But it's not the storm I want them to remember, it's how their mom came out of it."

Still she goes on to insist that the reason for the split was not because of the criminal charges. "I'm no fair-weather wife," she told the magazine. "I have children. I would never do anything to hurt their father. We have a bond that we will have for the rest of our lives because we have children. ... That we filed for divorce is not that important."

She also doesn't believe that R. Kelly is the man on the tape at the center of the criminal charges. "C'mon," she said. "Who would believe all that? That's why they call them allegations." But at the same time, she also says she hasn't seen the tape and never looked for it.

This woman is the biggest damn fool in the world...Girl it's not the drama associated with the infidelity, it's the lack of regard for your life. He could have brought her home a fatal disease called AIDS...ever heard of it. And she's sitting in Essence skinning and grinning. She makes me sick.

TOASTEE IN NEW SEX TAPE

Toastee Toof, the "Flavor of Love 2" tartlet who once squeezed men's heads between her legs under the nom de porn "Natalia the Scissor Vixen," is popping out a sex tape called "Toastee Exposed" - the latest discovery from Vivid Entertainment.

She's described by Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch as "cute, energetic, and a talented contortionist," and it's clear from the 40-minute video, says Hirsch, that her "enthusiasm for sex is obvious." "Toastee Exposed" will be released by Vivid on May 16.

In reference to the latest sex tape, Toastee has just released this statement via the VH1 blog:"I have decided that I could either put a lot of time, effort, and money into pursuing legal action to prevent the video's release, or I could put a lot of time effort and money into my medical degree; I choose the latter."

Looks like Melanie Brown a.k.a. Scary Spice is taking ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy to court to force him to take a paternity test.

"He's not doing a DNA test and he's not signing the birth certificate," Brown told People magazine Tuesday at a party for the U.S. launch of the BOOTS beauty brand in Hollywood.

"So it's going to have to go to court so he can be forced to do it, which is strange since he was the one asking for it."

Brown, 31, maintains that Murphy, 46, is her new baby's father, although he told a Dutch TV show in December: "I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test."

Wow....She's not playing. Eddie, this is definitely your baby. Homegirl has done several magazine spreads and is about to take you to court.....Yeah, it's your baby. The million dollar question is why would he flip the script like that.

MINORITY REPORT: BRITNEY'S BACK

Britney Spears performed live late Tuesday night for the first time in nearly three years with a 14-minute set for screaming fans in San Diego.

After a career break that featured a marriage, two children, divorce and rehab, Spears, in a black wig and white pleated miniskirt, took to the stage at the San Diego House of Blues at about 10:15 p.m. Security guards rushed to the edge of the stage to hold back the fans. Spears then began her set, lip-syncing her hits "... Baby One More Time," "Do Somethin'," "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Breathe on Me" and "Toxic."

Unfortunately, not everyone was happy. One fan told SignonSanDiego.com: “It wasn't a good move for her career. When you come out and do four songs and lip-sync . . . that's not what Britney fans came to see.”
