Beyoncé's father/manager, Mathew Knowles, has now lashed out against Aretha Franklin in defense of his daughter over a remark she made at the Grammys.

"Something this ridiculous – it's childish, it's unprofessional," Mathew Knowles said in a statement Thursday. "And it's a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess."

As we reported, Franklin – known as the Queen of Soul – was offended after Beyoncé introduced Tina Turner as "the queen" during the duo's Grammy performance.

I'm not mad at Papa Knowles for that comment....Aretha is too old for that nonsense.

RIHANNA CELEBRATES HER B-DAY

Rihanna celebrated her 20th birthday with a bash this week – and cupcake fight – at Les Deux in Hollywood.

"There was frosting all over Rihanna's face and the group was hysterically laughing to the point of almost tears," a guest reports. When partygoers including Kanye West and Wilmer Valderrama weren't flinging cupcakes, they offered a standing ovation after Chris Brown sang an a capella version of "Happy Birthday."

While Brown has denied that he and the birthday gal are dating, a party guest reports the two were cuddling and acting "very cozy all night."

So Gary Coleman has reportedly found true love.



The pint sized actor fouond love with redhead Shannon Price — and finally lost his virginity. The 40-year-old, 4-foot-8 Diff'rent Strokes star secretly wed the Utah woman, who's 22 and 5-foot-7, in Nevada last August, it was revealed Monday.

"I never got the opportunity to be romantic or feel romantic with anyone," Coleman told Inside Edition, adding, "I don't have issues with age, I have issues with intelligence. She's more intelligent than I am, and that's what matters to me." Price said height wasn't a consideration because, "He was 10 feet tall to me because he was sweet." Still, the relationship isn't without its problems. "He lets his anger conquer him sometimes," Price admitted. "He throws things around, and sometimes he throws it in my direction."

When Beyoncé and Tina Turner hit the Grammy stage for their high-octane duet on Sunday, most observers were left in awe. But the woman known as the "Queen of Soul" was left in a state of dismay over Beyoncé's introducing Turner as "the Queen."



Clearly offended, Aretha Franklin says in a statement, "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway.."

I'm sorry, but Aretha is way too old for this foolishness. Get over it.

The New York Daily News reports that Rihanna made a beeline for Chris Brown as soon as she walked into the room. "They were touching and whispering in each other's ears," says Daily News spies. "Then Jay-Z and Beyoncé walked in. Jay was saying hello to everybody except them. Rihanna seemed upset. She walked over to his table and looked like she was reading him the riot act. A few minutes later, she and Chris left together in her car."

Jay and Rihanna have both denied rumors of a past fling, and he and Beyoncé did invite Rihanna to an intimate dinner they threw Thursday.

I couldn't resist sharing the info, but honestly I see no Rihanna/ Hov connection.

So former crack head and Grammy winner Natalie Cole dared to tell a reporter what a lot of people were thinking about Amy Winehouse's quintuplet of trophies.



"I don't think she deserved it," said Cole, who also has battled drugs and booze. "I think she needs to get her life together first, and then get the awards later." Cole said Winehouse was talented but "crazy."



Now I see where Natalie is going but should someone's personal life be considered when it comes to their profession....If so, where do we draw the line? Who makes the judgment call on what's moral or unethical? Perhaps crack heads like Natalie should keep it moving.

With her broken engagement to actor Nick Cannon just a memory from last fall, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks has moved on with New York Giants football star Osi Umenyiora.
