BRANDY IN SEARCH OF LABEL HOME

Looks like Brandy is going through some serious professional changes....

R&B singer Brandy Norwood is in search of a new record deal. The 30-year-old singer was just dropped by her label Epic Records because of the lackluster sales of from her comeback CD, ‘Human.’ Released on Dec. 8, 2008, the CD has only sold 196,509 units to date according to SoundScan. “Her friend Brandon Creed that works as an A&R representative at Epic Records has been making calls to see if other labels would be interested in signing her,” a record company source told me. In addition, Brandy has also parted ways with her management. The former ‘Moesha’ star had been represented in recent months by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management. The McComb, Miss.-bred singer’s relationship with Roc Nation supposedly dissolved because of “creative differences.”

GV Says: That's a shame. Y'all know I love me some Brandy. I actually like Human. Hope everything falls in place for her.

BRANDY SETTLES

Brandy has settled with the two children whose mother was killed in the singer's 2006 car accident.

Awatef Aboudihaj's two children will receive $300,000 each, according to court documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court today, TMZ.com reports.
Awatef's husband, Marouane Hdidou, has not yet settled with Norwood. He rejected a $1.2 million settlement offer in February.

In December 2006, Norwood's Land Rover struck another vehicle on L.A.'s 405 Freeway and caused a four-car pileup.

She was not charged with any crime after Los Angeles police ruled there was "insufficient evidence" that she'd committed vehicular manslaughter.

"It was a situation that changed my life forever," Brandy has said.

BRANDY'S OFFER REJECTED

Brandy's settlement offer in the car accident that resulted in the death of another driver has been rejected. TMZ reports..

The man whose wife died in the Brandy car crash has rejected a big settlement — and his lawyers have had enough of him.

You’ll recall Awatef Aboudihaj was killed in 2006 after her car was struck by Brandy’s Range Rover on the 405 Freeway in L.A.

The victim’s husband, Marouane Hdidou, their two kids, the victim’s parents and another car accident victim got a $1.2 million settlement offer. Under the deal, the insurance company would pay $1 million and Brandy would personally pay $200,000. Hdidou rejected the offer and the deal went south.

Hdidou’s lawyers have had it, claiming their client’s cut would have been $300,000, which they call “excellent.”

They say he just won’t listen to reason so they want off the case.

BRANDY SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON RAY J

So were Ray J and Whitney really an item???? According to big sis Brandy....no

In a recent issue of Rap-Up magazine, Brandy reveals Ray J’s sentiments about his relationship with Whitney Houston.

“Well, every time I ask Ray J about Whitney he always says that’s just his friend. He’s not dating her. And I don’t think that he would lie to me. I said, ‘Well Ray, that’s not the way it looks. People think that you and Whitney are in a relationship.’ He was like, ‘Well, that’s what they’re gonna think, but I’m telling you the truth and I’m not dating Whitney. Whitney and I are just really good friends and that’s it.’ When I ask Whitney, she says the same thing, unless they are just pulling the wool over my eyes. But I think he’s telling the truth.”

GV Says: Now y'all know I love me some Brandy.....but honestly, she can't be that naive.

BRANDY COMES CLEAN

So Brandy is coming clean about her marriage and the fatal accident she was involved in via US magazine.

Singer Brandy opens up for the first time to Us Weekly about her fake marriage and the traumatic car accident that left one person dead.

In 2002, Brandy Norwood announced she'd secretly wed music producer Robert Smith the year before - just four months before giving birth to their baby, Sy'rai, when just 22 years old. The pair even acted as husband and wife on MTV series Brandy: A Special Delivery, which documented their daughter's birth.

But after calling it quits in 2003, Smith told a radio station the marriage never happened.

"I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model," Norwood, 29, reveals to Us Weekly in her first interview on the topic.

"Our relationship was very real, we just weren't legally married," she adds.

Norwood also admits she kept her daughter in the dark about the 2006 multicar collision she was involved in that left a 38-year-old woman dead.

"It was a very tough time, and I still have never talked about it with Sy'rai," she says. "I had to be a mother and stay strong for her. I'd cry when she'd go to sleep so she wouldn't see me like that - I had a responsibility to her."

Though Norwood wasn't arrested (there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol in her system) and was never charged, a $50 million lawsuit by the victim's family looms.

But the singer (her next album, Human, hits stores Dec. 9) is moving forward from the past.

"I think this is my year because I've decided that I'm going to go with the flow in my life," Norwood tells Us. "The purpose of my life is music. it's my responsibility to give the fans something they've been waiting for, something they deserve."

GV Says: Wow....I get Brandy's point of view. I think we all do. But the lie was sooo big you know. A marriage license is public record, clearly that was going to blow up. Still, I'm a Brandy fan.

BRANDY STILL HAUNTED BY ACCIDENT

In a interview with Ryan Seacrest, Brandy revealed that she continues to deal with the pain of knowing that her role in a freeway car accident took the life of another human being in December 2006.

"It was just a tough situation to go through," she told Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest Monday. "I can't really talk about it in any great detail because of legal matters but it was just something that I don't like to think about often."

The singer escaped vehicular manslaughter charges over the collision, which killed Awatef Aboudihaj almost two years years ago.

"You have to understand that you don't intend for things like that to happen; it's an accident... and that's how you get through things like that.

"I prayed a lot and I had great people around me to help me up and lift my spirits and I got through it... but I don't even think that I'm all the way over it. I don't think you can ever get over something like that - but I'm able to live my life without feeling the way I did in the beginning. I'm a lot more cautious driving, you don't want anything like that to happen again."

Brandy says the emotional pain she endured in the weeks and months after the crash is evident in her new songs - one new track, "Right Here (Departed)," is a tribute to her friends and family members who stuck by her: "A lot of people can relate to that song because everyone needs someone to be there for them."

Looks like Brandy is back.

The songstress announced Thursday (Oct. 2) on New York radio station Hot 97 (WQHT) that she is planning on partnering with her brother Ray J for a collaborative album tentatively titled "R&B." FASHION ROCKS ON THE RED CARPET

To no surprise celebs stepped out of the box for Friday night's Fashion Rocks celebration.

Beyonce looked subdued but sexy....and wait....

is that a ring....yes it is....it's a 18-carat ring to be exact...NICE!

Rihanna came out donning a Monique Lhuillier Fall strapless number. Very nice! No gaudy bling....very nice. I love the fresh faces that her and B are rocking.

LL showed up....not really feeling this jacket and hat combo

Ciara arrived in Elie Saab. I'm not crazy about the stripped looked, but it certainly was a good fit.

Solange, Solange, Solange....y'all know I love Solange. But this was a hot mess. Period.

Lil Mama came out looking the same.

Ashanti came decked in pink. This dress is little too tight and bright to work. Sorry Shani...you know we love you

Keyshia Cole hit the carpet looking extra cute and sexy. Who knew this girl was that small. Someone's been working out.

Tyra...too much makeup. Color just too dark. Very vamp looking.

MJB...I just don't like the tie dye look on the red carpet.

Bran showed up....borderline on the trashbag look, but it somehow works.
