Tyler Perry cops a win.



The Actor-screenwriter has emerged victorious in a federal copyright infringement lawsuit brought against him by a woman claiming his film "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" was based on her play.

Jurors in Marshall, Texas found that Donna West did not provide enough evidence to support her claim, according to the Associated Press. In her lawsuit filed in May 2007, West argued that Perry could've lifted material from her play "Fantasy of a Black Woman" when it was performed three times in 1991 in Dallas, or gained access to the script in 1998 when he presented his plays at the Dallas Black Academy of Arts and Letters.

"We are very pleased that the jurors understood that Tyler Perry is an incredibly talented person who has no need to copy the work of others," attorney Veronica Lewis relayed in a statement.

West, who lives in North Texas, asked for damages and profits made from Perry's 2005 film, which earned some $50 million in theaters. Her attorneys plan to seek a new trial.

THE KNOWLES CANCEL CONCERT

Houston fans of Beyonce and Solange Knowles may be a little disappointed in their hometown heroes as the sisters have reportedly cancelled their 'Beyonce and Solange: Hope for the Holidays' benefit.

Originally slated for Dec. 9 in Houston, and televised by FUSE, the event was to benefit the victims of Hurricane Ike. In a press release the duo cited "irresolvable scheduling conflicts" as reason for cancelling the much anticipated show:

"Beyonce and Solange regret the cancellation of their Houston-area holiday concert and urge their fans to support the efforts of The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund and the Survivor Foundation," their Music World Entertainment label said in a statement.

There is currently no word on whether the event will be rescheduled.

JENNIFER HEADING BACK TO WORK

Jennifer Hudson is getting back to work.

The Grammy-nominated singer is scheduled to begin filming a video for the single "If It Isn't Love" next week, her label J Records tells the Associated Press.

Spies in LA saw the songbird coming out of a well-known ob/gyn's office on North Crescent Boulevard, "clutching what looked like a sonogram and being greeted by her entourage with cheers. She was ebullient." It was the same type of paper that Minnie Driver was holding when she found out she was pregnant at the same doctor's office. Carey, who wed Nick Cannon this year in a quickie Bahamas ceremony, has made no bones about wanting a child. A rep said, "As far as I'm told it's not true."

GV Says: I still say WTF when I see this couple, but....of them have longed to settle down for some time so I can see why it works. Congrats to them if the rumors are true.

DMX ARRESTED AGAIN!!!!

DMX was arrested.....AGAIN!!!!!!

X was arrested in Florida today after being on the run from Arizona authorities.

According to TMZ, DMX was obtaiend at 2:45pm today at producer Scott Storch's residence at Palm Island, an island off of Miami Beach.

His lawyer, Charles Kozelka, told the Associated Press that X has been in and out of a rehab facility in the sunshine state over the past couple of weeks. (what does this have to do with the tea in China???)

DMX missed a court appearance last Friday where he was supposed to face drug, idenity theft and animal cruelty charges. As a result, a Maricopa County judge issued a warrant for his arrest and Arizona police authorities offered a $5,000 rewarded to anyone with information on the rapper's whereabouts.

The Feds were tipped off to his location by the Maricopa County Sheriff's office and X was arrested without incident.

DMX is currently being held in the Miami-Dade County Jail but it is expected that he will be returned to Phoenix where he'll be held on $120,000 bond.

GV Says: Goes to show you fame does equal fortune or even good sense. This dude is worse off than anyone I personally know.

BOBBY BROWN BOOK HITS SHELVES

Bobby Brown's unofficial biography hit bookshelves across the nation today. The book chronicles the singers drug habit and his tumultuous relationship with wife Whitney Houston.



Despite working for nearly a year with Brown to complete the published text, author Derrick Handspike wrote in the book's foreword about complications that forced the singer to leave the project, which forced the publisher to turn it into an unofficial biography.

"Somewhere between the completion of the book and the media blitz -- it seemed as though Bobby got cold feet and started to procrastinate on our final agreement," Handspike wrote. "I think this left a bad taste in Bobby's mouth about going forward with the project."

With attention from media outlets like The New York Post, Bobby removed his consent but allowed his words to remain published and move forward.

GV Says: I'm sure he realized writing a book about how he was a crack head was pretty pathetic. Plus he probably realized that he would probably need Whitney one day so no need to burn bridges.

KANYE AN INTERN?

Kanye to be an intern?

Kanye West has reportedly announced plans to take a hiatus from music and focus on exploring fashion as a possible intern.

According to the New York Times, he is looking to diversify his portfolio by expanding his knowledge of style and clothing design by offering his free services at a clothing branch along the lines of Louis Vuitton and Raf Simons.

"I was blown away from the planet when he told me," Simons told Times. "I know he's very serious about this -- I don't take it as a joke -- but how can I imagine him being my intern? It's a very extreme situation."

While no official word or statement from Kanye has been released confirming the new move, the rapper has hinted at his intention of pursuing a more focused path in the fashion world.

"I want to and will be the real thing," Kanye previously wrote in a blog entry. "I will not just be a 'celebrity designer.'"

JENNIFER HUDSON RELEASES STATEMENT

Jennifer Hudson released a statement of gratitude in light of her four Grammy nods.



"It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album," she said in a statement, " so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I'm extremely honored and humbled by the nominations."

Hudson, 27, was nominated for best R&B album for her self-titled album, best female R&B vocal performance, best R&B song for "Spotlight" and best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for her duet with Fantasia, "I'm His Only Woman."

The nominations were announced on the same day her estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, was ordered held without bail in the Chicago shooting deaths of Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and his own stepson, Julian King, 7.

Looks like the truth of a Rihanna, Jay-Z has finally aired out



Excerpts from a new book, Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise are clearing up those nasty little rumors about Rihanna and Jay-Z thanks to the admission of publicist Jonathan Hay, who is now claiming responsibility for fabricating stories about an affair between the two to help push her single, "Pon De Replay."

In a recent interview with Associated Content Hay comes clean, admitting, "Along with one of my partners, I then began to fabricate stories of Rihanna and Jay-Z, leaking false rumors to tabloids, working internet message boards, etc. We started to get an insane amount of media coverage very fast. There are so many things we did that people don't even know about, not even Rihanna herself...My whole agenda was to get media for the song."

Hay adds, "When the rumor surfaced that Jay-Z had a new love life and was cheating on Beyonce...that was just to get attention...I feel awful but, yes, I leaked some of those stories. Looking back, I am ashamed of that; there was zero integrity in that maneuver. But this is entertainment and I wanted to obtain publicity - so I came up with some crazy stories and it worked. Rihanna is one of the biggest stars in the world now, and look at how she stormed into the business! Not to take anything from her - she is a great artist - but every artist needs a launching pad and there is nothing better than a good scandal to get the public's attention."

During a press conference in New Zealand today, Kanye West decided to sing Beyonce's praises! But not without disrespecting music icon Tina Turner.

"Nobody really wants to recognize that Beyonce is a f*cking living legend and that she is just as great, if not greater, than the artists that we had in the past...that she's probably greater than Tina Turner," he said.
