Kanye....WTF?



The first winner of the night, Taylor Swift for best female video, was victim to Kanye West. In the middle of her acceptance speech, Weezy stole the microphone to announce that fellow nominee Beyoncé had "one of the greatest videos of all time," in "Single Ladies."

Beyoncé looked rather shocked. Off-camera, when West returned to his seat, audience members gave a still-stunned Swift (who was ushered off the stage before finishing her speech) a standing ovation.

GV Says: LMAO....Kanye is like that crazy cousin we all have. I was actually shocked when this occurred....but then after 10 seconds I wasn't any more. As much as MTV acts like they hate, he keeps this show entertaining.

COME ON SERENA

Come on Serena, you gotta keep your cool girl. NY Daily News reports:

For nearly two weeks, Serena Williams had made a flawless run through the U.S. Open, pulverizing opponents and dominating matches, a seeming lock to defend her title and capture her 12th career Grand Slam.

It all unraveled in unimaginable fashion a few minutes before 11 p.m. Saturday night, with a foot fault, a profane tirade and a code violation that happened to come on match point, after an irate Williams told a lineswoman, "I swear to God, I'll f --- take this ball and shove it down your f -- - throat. "

Faster than you can spell colossal anticlimax, the rackets were down, the match was over, the crowd was incensed and a teary-eyed Williams was leaving the court to a cascade of boos.

The whole flow of the match was no less stunning than the ending. Kim Clijsters, the 26-year-old, comebacking mother ...broke Williams' vaunted serve four times and spent the better part of two sets moving her around and dominating the rallies with penetrating, angled groundstrokes.

Clijsters held serve at love to go up 6-5 in the second, and as Williams served in the 12th game to try to force a tiebreaker, Williams hit a backhand into the net to go down 15-30. On her ensuing second serve, she was called for the foot fault to make it 15-40 - double match point.

An infuriated Williams walked over to the lineswoman - the USTA would not release her name - angrily shook her racket at her and let fly with profane comments. The lineswoman walked over to the chair umpire, Louise Engzell, to report what had been said. Brian Earley, the tournament referee, came on the court to discuss the matter. Williams approached the net and denied that she had threatened the lineswoman.

With the second code violation, Earley informed Williams that she would be assessed a point penalty. A match-point penalty. She got no slack for a call that replays showed was clearly wrong.

In the interview room, Williams declined to disclose what she said to the lineswoman.

"I don't think that's necessary. I'm trying to move on," Williams said. "I'm clearly not happy. Obviously I wanted to fight. I always fight when I'm down."

HOV TAKES TO MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

Hov took to the stage last night at Madison Square Garden for his 9/11 benefit performance. The NY Daily News reports:

Jay-Z's concert at Madison Garden last night may have commemorated something solemn: the anniversary of Sept. 11, with all its profits promised to the families of fallen police officers and firemen.

But the music he played couldn't have been more celebratory.

Backed by a 10-piece band, Jay-Z gave his studio recordings a level of liveliness and depth few live hip-hop events even attempt.

Two drummers pounded behind the star on classic hits like "99 Problems" or "Heart of the City."

A three-piece horn section landed its own punches, adding extra rhythms to the mix, while Jay's rhymes dodged in and out of the beats with a boxer's wily grace.

Jay-Z acknowledged the context of the event throughout the night, which opened with several city firefighters leading the Pledge Of Allegiance. Then, Jay-Z's guitarist offered a newly earnest take on Jimi Hendrix's once-subversive version of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

But Jay-Z came to praise, not criticize.

"Eight years later, we're even stronger," he said to the crowd. To prove it, he slammed into the commanding new hit, "Run This Town," with special guest Rihanna.

The surprise singer took her place in an award show's worth of starry walk-ons, including Mary J. Blige, John Mayer, Swizz Beats, Kid Cudi, Pharrel, Kanye West and, naturally, Jay-Z's main squeeze, Beyoncé.

Still, no one could upstage the self-proclaimed rap king. Jay-Z delivered scores of hits in sinewy versions, cutting out certain verses to tighten both the tension and the focus.

Jay-Z showcased his just-released "The Blueprint 3" CD, which refers back to his first "Blueprint" album, released on that fateful Sept. 11.

In new songs like "Venus Vs. Mars," he proved himself utterly up to date in his references (including one to Bernie Madoff) and his rap flow.

But it's the context of the show that gave these local anthems deeper meaning.

"We're here to celebrate life, to celebrate strength," Jay-Z said at one point.

And with music this hard, witty and sure, he captured the city's character triumphantly.

JANET CONFIRMS SPLIT WITH JERMAINE

Janet Jackson is gracing the October issue of Harper's Bazaar.



In her first interview since Michael's death she reveals, "I've been doing okay," but adds, "It's really hard to believe he's passed."

She tells the magazine the last time she saw Michael alive was at family gathering on May 14, where they cracked each other up over Thai food. "We had so much fun that day ... [He] would laugh so hard, he would just start crying," she says.

Janet was on the Atlanta set of her upcoming Tyler Perry movie when she heard the tragic news; she flew to Los Angeles to grieve with the family – and was there to comfort Michael's "sweet" daughter Paris, 11, after she spoke at the Staples Center memorial on July 7. "I was really proud [of her]," she says, adding that Paris and her brothers Prince, 12, and Blanket, 7, "are all so smart. "

As for how the kids (now being raised by grandmother Katherine Jackson) are coping, Janet tells the magazine, "They're with all their cousins. That family love, that will keep them going."

What's keeping Janet going is an inner strength inherited from her mother. "I always wanted to have my mother's strength, but I didn't know if it was really there. ... Now at least I know that I can step up to the plate and not crumble when I'm needed. When it comes to something like this that is so, so serious, so painful, so traumatic, I can handle it."

After much speculation Janet also revealed she is single since splitting with longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri.

"I've had people ask me out," she says, but she hasn't taken anyone up on their offers.

As far as she is concerned, whether she ever marries again – or even has kids ("Sure, I'd adopt," she says) – is out of her hands.

Says the singer, "I'll put it like this: if God wants me to, then I will."

ELLEN REPLACES PAULA

Ellen DeGeneres is taking Paula Abdul's place as the fourth judge on American Idol.




"DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition," Fox television says in a statement.

DeGeneres, 51, begins her stint after the audition rounds, which have featured a rotating group of celebrity guest judges including Shania Twain, Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige and Joe Jonas - one of the infamous Jonas Brothers.

"I'm going to have a day job and a night job," DeGeneres said at her talk show taping Wednesday, assuring her audience that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will continue. "This is so exciting for me."

After all the hoopla, President Obama finally gave his publically protested address to America’s children.



Although many Presidents of the past often visit schools, several conservative organizations and many concerned parents warned Obama was trying to sell his political agenda.

THE DREAM & CHRISTINA TIE THE KNOT

Christina Milian and The Dream officially tied the knot in Vegas last week



It all went down close to midnight at the legendary Little White Wedding Chapel -- the same place Britney Spears married that Jason Alexander dude back in 2004.

According to Milian's marriage license, the two said "I Do" at exactly 12:00 AM Friday morning.

We're told Milian rented her wedding dress for $200 (including shoes and veil) and The Dream rented his tux for $100 (including shoes, tie and vest).

VMA TO HONOR MICHAEL JACKSON

The Video Music Awards will pay homage to Michael Jackson when Janet opens the show at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sept. 13.



It's not known whether Janet will perform – it's being billed as a "special appearance" – but her mere presence on stage is expected to give the show an emotional punch.

The actress and husband Duane Martin welcomed son Ezekiel Czar Martin on today at 10:20 a.m. in Los Angeles. The baby, who wasn't due until the 21st of this month, weighed in at 9 lbs., 9 oz and is 23 inches long. Ezekiel joins big brother Xen, 8, at home.

"I’m enjoying it. I’m 40, and having a baby! Every moment, every nauseous moment, everything that is good and not so good about being pregnant, I’m enjoying."

COUPLE WED AT SON'S FUNERAL

Now this is interesting....

The young boy who died following a fiery chain-reaction crash on the 190 near South Buffalo [was] laid to rest on Monday and in the process something he'd been wishing for came true -- his parents got married.

The funeral for Asa Hill, 7, was unusual in more ways than one. More than 700 people came out on the holiday to pay their respects. The Unitarian Universalist Church on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo only seats 400 so the overflow crowd either stood in the aisles or listened outside the church. The service featured a drum procession, dancing, singing and cheering along with relatives sharing special memories of a bright, talented and loving young boy. "His wonderful smile and fun laugh especially when he would crack up uncontrollably, his oh-so-unique personality, warm hugs, loving kisses," recalls Asa's aunt.

"They (her grandchildren) always hug me when I go to work and tell me they love me and he hugged me and said, 'Grandma every time I hug you you always smell good'," says Asa's grandmother Kefilwe Hill.

Asa had apparently been asking his parents, Amilcar Hill and Rahwa Ghirmatizion, to get married and to the surprise of nearly everyone at the church Monday they granted Asa his wish by tying the knot in the middle of the funeral. A wedding during a funeral may seem unusual but it seemed to fit the spirit of the day's celebration of life and love.

Asa's father says it gives him peace knowing Asa's organs are being donated to save other young lives and he encourages everyone to become an organ donor immediately.

GV Says: Interesting.....I really don't think I could have done that. Perhaps if my child was battling a long illness and there was time to mentally prepare. But I'm not sure I could done that in light of the suddenness of his death. I can't knock it though. We all grieve differently.

KIM'S "TARDY FOR THE PARTY" IS LEAKED

Looks like ATL Housewife Kim Zolciak's "Tardy for the Party" has hit airwaves.



"I never released that song to Ryan Seacrest or anyone else," said Zolciak. "It was going to be on iTunes and I wanted people to see all the thought that went into it, along the timeline of the show so you can see me in the studio and watch me go through the whole process. This is just not how I wanted to release my first song."

GV Says: Whoever produced this, truly worked some type of mechanical miracle because the voice we heard in the first season was horrific. H*ll, I could a note better than her and I def don't consider myself to be any sort of singer.

JAY-Z'S BLUEPRINT RELEASE DATE MOVED UP

Hov's "The Blueprint 3" has moved from September 11 to Tuesday, September 8 - he same day as Def Jam's The Blueprint Collector's Edition.



Now that Jay-Z has left Def Jam, his former label is looking to cash in one last time. Def Jam will release The Blueprint Collector's Edition consisting of Hov's first two classic albums, The Blueprint and The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse. The edition will be packaged in a collectible slipcase with a poster. There will be space to insert a third CD.
