Venus Williams got the upper hand over younger sister Serena, defeating her in two sets – 7-5, 6-4, to win her fifth Wimbledon singles crown.
Saturday’s championship battle marked the seventh time the sisters had opposed one another in a Grand Slam final, with Serena, 26, winning the last five of those matches.
After sealing the victory, Venus, 28, hugged her sister at the net and later credited her as a touch competitor. “She played so awesome so it was really a task."
