According to the NY Post, Jay-Z and his 40/40 Club, have been hit with a lawsuit for allegedly skimping on pay for waiters, bartenders and other staffers.
Lawyers for Celeste Williams, a former waitress at 40/40, accused the club of keeping a cut of workers' tips and "willfully failing and refusing to pay them at the legally required minimum wage" and overtime since the popular nightspot opened in 2003.
"I find that this is a rampant violation throughout New York City," said lawyer Maimon Kirschenbaum, who filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court yesterday.
It seeks unspecified damages and estimates that more than 100 staffers have been ripped off - although club management said Williams worked at 40/40 for only four days in December 2005.
Club spokesman Ron Berkowitz noted that 40/40 has not yet been served with papers, but said, "The allegations are false."
