Spies at People mag, report that Kimora and beau Djimon spent some QT together recently.

Kimora Lee Simmons and her sweetheart Djimon Hounsou were spotted working out together at Equinox gym in Santa Monica. Side by side on treadmills, they warmed up with a slow walk. Hounsou wore his headphones around his neck so that he and a svelte looking Simmons could talk while they walked. Kimora was reportedly very talkative and upbeat, chatting nonstop with her beau. After the walk, she hopped off to do some lunges – and Hounsou followed. And as he hopped off his treadmill, Kimora playfully grabbed his butt and giggled.

JURNEE SMOLLETT ESTABLISHES $2 MILLION SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Last week, actress Jurnee Smollett, co-star of "The Great Debaters," announced her intentions of working with Wiley College (the school The Great Debaters was based on) officials to establish a $2 million scholarship fund in honor of Henrietta Bell Wells, the woman behind her "Great Debaters" character, and her mother Janet Smollett, a civil rights activist and humanitarian.

While holding back tears, Smollett vowed that the scholarship fund would "put young girls through college" and help diminish the negative stereotypes and images of black women as depicted by the media, which she feels are sensationalized.

"I'm told I'm a statistic," said Ms. Smollett, in a passionate address to the packed audience in the center. "I'm told that my young black sisters are disease-ridden...but we are greater than what society tells us we are."

After Ms. Smollett's speech, Wiley President and CEO Dr. Haywood Strickland, admitted for the first time that he was speechless after hearing the accomplished actress' declaration to provide more scholarship opportunities for its student body, most of whom are "first generation" college students.

Wiley officials later presented the actress with an honorary degree. Ms. Smollett accepted it to the applause of the audience, which was filled to capacity.

"I'm deeply, deeply humbled to be here with you today," Ms. Smollett said. "I know I'm in a room full of greatness."

So Rihanna and Chris Brown are on rumor control watch this week.

Still living down persistent rumors that she and Chris Brown are an item, Rihanna insists, "We are best friends, honestly, like brother and sister." Speaking to MTV News at Saturday's Kids' Choice Awards, the she added, "I won't say that we're just friends – me and Chris are really best, best friends."

"We both started our careers around the same time. He is one of the only people in the industry ... I trust and hang out with all the time." And just so there's no question, she added, "If he was a boyfriend, I would say that."

Chris joined in, too, saying: "They keep asking me, 'What's the deal?' I'm like, 'There's no deal. No deal.' We're just friends."

To be honest I can't see these two together, but then again none of my male friends get this close to me (see pic)....lets not get it twisted.

YOUNGER BROTHER OF GERALD LEVERT DIES

Sean Levert, the son Eddie Levert of the O'Jays and younger brother of R&B singer Gerald Levert, passed away late Sunday night at the age of 39.

Sean died at 11:57pm at Luthern Hospital after being transported to the facility from the Cuyahoga County Jail. He had gone to the jail's infirmary complaining he was sick. He was reportedly in jail for failing to pay about $80,000 in child support.

Levert was the younger brother of Gerald Levert, who passed away in 2006. He was also a member of the band "LeVert" with his brother.

Gerald Levert died on November 10, 2006 at the age of 40, where he was found dead in his bed at his Newbury home.

JAY-Z & BEYONCE GETTING CLOSER TO THE ALTAR?

According to the NY Daily News gossip column, things could be getting more serious for Jay-Z and Beyoncé. The couple of nearly six years have been slow to take that next step in their relationship, in part because her parents believe she's too young (26) to get married.

But now that Beyoncé's acting career is taking off, her folks are more open to the pair getting serious, says a pal of the Knowles clan.

While Beyoncé was on location filming "Cadillac Records," Jay-Z met up with Knowles sibling Solange in the Florida Room of South Beach's Delano Hotel, where the pair sipped on Don Julio tequila and chatted about how Hov could move things to the next level.
