Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday is reporting that Queen Latifah was the victim of theft last Monday after someone stole more than $10,000 in jewelry from her villa in Tobago.
The singer/rapper/ actress was vacationing with a female friend at the $1,000-per-night Stone Haven Villas in Black Rock, Tobago, when burglars struck on Monday, the paper reported.
Latifah reportedly checked in under the name Cynthia Hadden. According to the newspaper, she returned from a barbecue brunch held in her honor by the establishment's management to discover a bracelet, two gold rings, a gold chain and a silver ring had disappeared from her room. Police were called to the resort after staff security conducted a search of the estate.
Police Commissioner James Philbert tells Newsday: "Several searches are being carried out and the police are trying to have the jewelry returned to Queen Latifah. Investigators said the larceny seems to be an inside job and efforts are being made round the clock to make a breakthrough.”
